Many owners underestimate how active cats truly are.

Generally, experts recommend two or three play sessions lasting about 10–15 minutes each day, ideally in short bursts rather than one long session.

Another guideline suggests:

  • Kittens: up to an hour daily in smaller sessions

  • Adults: two sessions of 10–20 minutes

  • Seniors: shorter but consistent play

Why Short Sessions Work Better

Cats naturally hunt in bursts — stalk, chase, capture, rest — so marathon play sessions often cause them to lose interest.

Timing Matters

Cats are crepuscular (most active at dawn and dusk), so scheduling play around those times can improve engagement.

Simple rule:
Consistency beats intensity.

Even five focused minutes can dramatically improve behavior.
